You can't reverse the calendar, but "biological age" isn't the calendar — it's a number calculated from biomarkers like blood glucose, inflammation, liver and kidney markers, fitness and body composition. Those genuinely respond to how you live. So lowering your biological age is real in a specific sense: you improve the inputs the score is built from. And the levers that move them most are unglamorous and mostly free — not the supplements sold alongside the idea.
What "lowering biological age" really means
Biological-age scores come in two families. Epigenetic clocks read DNA methylation; composite scores like PhenoAge combine nine routine blood markers with your age. Both are estimates of how your body is faring relative to the calendar — and both are just functions of measurable inputs.
That's the useful framing. You're not chasing a mystical rejuvenation; you're moving glucose, blood pressure, inflammation (CRP), lipids, fitness and muscle in the right direction.
